The evening of August 30th was a cool, damp, gray one. It was one of those days where I knew I should be physically active, but would have been more content to just curl up on the couch reading a book or watching television. Luckily, I have someone who kicks my butt into gear sometimes when I’m feeling lazy.
After a healthy, delicious dinner, my awesome boyfriend convinced me that we needed to go for a hike, even though it was drizzling outside. I “geared up,” wearing jeans, moisture-wicking hiking socks, waterproof hiking boots, a long sleeved tshirt, a moisture wicking baseball cap and my new Eddie Bauer Ascent mountaineering jacket.
We drove over to a regional park just a few minutes from the house and after consulting the map, found some trails we hadn’t taken before. It was a nice loop through the woods on a wide trail of gravel and sand. There was no one else around and the sound of the rain on the trees was so peaceful.
The loop took us 40 minutes, but we tend to walk fast. Walking back to the car, we noticed that the rain was not penetrating our new jackets, but rather beaded up and fell off, which is amazing considering how thin the jackets are. They were lightweight, breathable and super comfortable. I’m completely in love with my Eddie Bauer jacket!
After our hike, we rewarded ourselves with some ice cream while we watched TV. Overall, it was a pretty perfect evening. It truly is the small things sometimes that count the most.
