Half Way There…30 Day Shred Update

Ooh, we’re halfway there…oh, oh, livin’ on prayer…

Yeah, couldn’t help that one. Everyone loves a little Bon Jovi in the morning, don’t they?

Anyway, today was day 15 of 30 Day Shred and I thought I’d give a little update.

So far, getting up at 5am and doing a workout every day has been easier than I expected it to be. Thank God for coffee!

Level 1 of the program felt like it went really fast. I never fully mastered all of the side lunges with arm raises, but I could do almost all of them with the 3 lb. weights and half of them with the 5 lb. weights. I still can’t do real push-ups, but was able to complete everything else.

Results from Level 1 were 2 lbs. and 3.25 inches lost overall. I’m pretty happy with that, especially considering the inches came from my mid-section.

Level 2, for me, is more difficult on the cardio front. The shoulders ache by the end because of all the plank moves, but I definitely feel it in my obliques a few hours later, so something must be working!

By the weekend, I’ll be checking the scale and my measurements again. Hopefully the results from Level 2 will be as good as or better than the results from Level 1. I’ll take Sunday off from 30 Day Shred and will start Level 3 on Monday.

In thinking ahead to my next program once 30 Day Shred has been completed, I’m debating between Ripped in 30 or Body Revolution, both by Jillian Michaels. I like that her workouts are less than 40 minutes long and combine strength and cardio. Longer workouts just won’t fit into my schedule at 5am!

Has anyone tried either Ripped in 30 or Body Revolution? If so, what were your results?

    Hi there!

I first started the 30 Day Shred series 2 years ago, and always come back to it. (I did Level 2 this morning, too. :-) I haven’t done “Body Revolution”, but I have done “Ripped in 30″. I think that if you are liking the Shred, then you will like that format, too. You may also like “Extreme Shed and Shred.”

I lost about 3 inches, but not much in terms of weight while doing the Shred as I am at goal weight range. But I think it has done wonders for endurance and is good crosstraining for running. I also like the length of the workouts.
